Had a fun ride this week - Took off for Washington, Texas at 7am - temp was 28 degrees F. I have to say that my Field Sheer jacket and pants did great with their thinsulate liners. My "low cost" winter gauntlet gloves were miserable failures. It's been a very long time since my fingers got so cold. About ½ way into the trip, I stopped and put on some thin summer gloves on under the gauntlets. It helped....some. After about 40 minutes into the trip (20 minutes to go), I was having to look at my hands to make sure I was grabbing the brake levers.
The ride, other- wise, was a pleasure. Saw several hawks out looking for their breakfast, trafic was light, and I was on a ride.
The rest of the day was great - a 3 hour ride to Goliad, Texas to a 50 acre tract of land. It was a beautiful place and I look forward to my next trip. We drove the pickup back to Washington, but didn't get back 'till after dark and I forgot my clear face shield. I wasn't about to ride without a face shield, so I took the truck home and returned the next day to get the scoot.
There are a pair of AA battery powered heated gloves on their way to me as we speak. No more cold hands - I hope..
