I'd like to take a second to welcome you to my site. This site is a combination of a blog, a collection of news articles and feeds, and just random bits and bytes. I use it a a testbed to develop ideas for other sites. i.e. blow things up here, instead of on a client's site.
I use Joomla to develop sites, this site, a church site, Texas Real Estate Services, and several other sites. It is a very versatile framework which can be put together for fufilling many web site needs.
What is Joomla!? Joomla! is the free open source framework and content publishing system designed for creating highly interactive Web sites, online communities, media portals, blogs and eCommerce applications.
This site is my hobby, information center, business development area. You can usuall find me here if I'm not involved with a client.

10 Easy steps to go Green It’s easier and less expensive to go green than you may think. here are a few simple and cost-effective things you can do that will put you on the road to living green. 1. Reduce Electricity. Remember to turn off the light when you leave the room and to unplug your computer and other electronics and appliances when not in use. These small gestures will not only save energy but will save you money on your electric bill as well. 2. Save Water. Install low-flow shower heads and faucets to cut back on water flow. A simple fix-shorten your shower times and shorten your water bill. 3. Conserve Rain Water. Set up barrels in your backyard to collect rain water for watering plants and shrubs. Use this to water your indoor plants, too. 4. Support Local Farms. Not only will you be amazed at the difference in the taste of the produce, you'll be cutting back on gas and decreasing our dependence on oil with the trucks that are used to ship produce.
5. Recycle. It’s free, reduces household consumption and increases energy efficiency. |

Going Green!! Bryan Texas Utilities is ahead of the current wave of Green awareness. Did you know that BTU introduced rebates for solar electricity, compact flourescent bulbs, solar hot water heaters? Not content to sit back and play catch up, BTU got ahead of the game and became one of the few areas in Texas offering incentives to go green. Would a rebate of $1,000 to 1,500 for installing a solar water heater interest you? How about up to a $4,000 rebate for installing a photovoltaic system, or rebates for installing a heat pump, buying compact flourescent or LED lighting? There is a wealth of information on the BTU web site. Before you buy new appliances, insulate your home, consult the BTU webpage at BTU's Green + web page. Stay tuned as we continue to explore how we can go green in the Brazos Valley. |

You never know what you'll come across.
Recently, I was messin' on my computer when I was called to come look. Just outside the fence, which keeps me from fallin in a creek when I mow the lawn, was something low, big and brown. Not a dog, it was moving too slow.... could it be a nutrea? They're slowly invading. I grabbed my camera and went to see if I could get it's picture. At first, I was trying to sneak up on it. It became apparent that it saw me and was in no way alarmed. I was able to get several shots of this 40 or so pound beaver slowly moving along grazing on the greenery along the creek. |
